Accademia Italiana Bocuse d’Or

From 2017 to 2019 Alba has been home to the Accademia Bocuse d’Or Italia a body which, supported by several different institutions, has been involved in the selection and training of Team Italia, made up of chefs, coaches and commis who, in January 2019, represented Italy at the world final of the Bocuse d'Or, and event that is held every two years in Lyon and is one of the most prestigious cooking competitions in the world. Alba has thus become a point of reference for Italian chefs of excellence.

During the whole period, the local area was subject to presentation and awareness-raising activities for Team Italy, with the involvement of local, Italian and international starred chefs. The team also took part in presentation activities of Alba City of Gastronomy, both in Italy and abroad and, in 2018, in the preparation of the creative aperitifs of the Alba Truffle Show, as part of the Cooking Shows of the International Alba White Truffle Fair, as well as other related events.

From being the venue for the Italian pre-selections to the stage for the Italian finals, the city has maintained its role even at the end of Bocuse 2019, and thanks to APRO Formazione has become a centre of excellence for the chefs of tomorrow, with the dream of setting up haute cuisine masterclasses.

The aim of the project is to make a long-term investment in Italian cultural awareness and gastronomic creativity, by enhancing local creativity, creating new partnerships and developing internships for Italian professional schools.
