Covid-19 emergency: creative “gastronomic” support

#chefperilpiemonte (March 2020): a fundraising campaign promoted by the International Alba White Truffle Fair to raise funds to support regional health facilities involved in tackling the COVID-19 emergency. The Fair Board joined the Piedmont Region's campaign called "Insieme possiamo fermarlo” (Together we can stop it) with the help of chefs from the world of Piedmontese gastronomy and beyond, who happily accepted this opportunity, and shared their creativity for charity. Each of them made a donation and shot a video recipe that was shared on the Fair's Instagram page @tartufobiancoalba.

Food aid programmes: starting in spring 2020, an initiative was launched to purchase and distribute foodstuffs, through the preparation of the so-called "borse alimentari" (food bags), delivered to families facing long-term economic difficulties, as identified by the Consorzio Socio Assistenziale Alba Langhe Roero, in collaboration with Caritas Diocesana Albese, through the Emporio della Solidarietà "Madre Teresa di Calcutta".

In an attempt to diversify the forms of support for the population, also involving the economic operators most affected by the current situation, the project also included, as additional stakeholders, vendors in public spaces, from whom the products to be included in the food bags were purchased and then delivered to the beneficiaries.

Cooperation with the Alba traders: (since March 2020): a list of home delivery businesses has been compiled. All the information was spread on social channels and on the web. The project was meant to support commercial activities on the one hand and help the population during the emergency on the other. The service - which focused on medicines and food during the first weeks of the emergency - was later extended to all goods, including restaurant delivery.
