The term ecomafia was coined by Legambiente in 1994. Since the first report on eco-mafias, published in 1997, environmental crimes have been steadily increasing. In 2024, the number of crimes exceeded 40,000, highlighting a strong connection between the mafia, corruption, and environmental contracts. These crimes are widespread throughout the peninsula, with significant involvement in the northern regions as well. During the meeting, led by Francesca Pinaffo and Francesco Pungitore, we will explore, together with guests Roberto Greco, journalist and author of the book "Alla conquista del nord" (Conquering the North); Civita Di Russo, lawyer and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Lazio Region (Brothers of Italy), also author of the book "Indomita" (Indomita), on 30 years of commitment to fighting the mafia; and Vincenza Rando, lawyer and vice president of Libera – Senator of the Democratic Party (Partito Democratico).   The Hand of the Mafia on the Environment
