The Romantic Legacy
9:00 PM
TheAres Trio composed of Carlotta Malquori on violin, Matteo Fabi on cello and Andrea D'Amato on piano opens the 49th Chamber Music Season, organised by the Civic Music Institute “Lodovico Rocca” of Alba, with the concert L'eredità romantica.
The trio was formed in 2019 in Düsseldorf, the city where the three young artists met, studied at the Robert Schumann Music School, and where they primarily pursue their artistic and professional career. During the early stages of their career, they had the privilege of training with artists such as Noè Inui, Lisa Smirnova, and Pieter Wispelwey. From 2020 to 2022, the Trio attended the Biennial International Chamber Music Course at the Avos Project Academy in Rome, taking lessons and masterclasses with the Avos Piano Quartet, David Romano, Massimo Spada, and Brannon Cho. They subsequently participated in several recording and recording projects and made video productions, winning important scholarships. In 2022, they performed at renowned Italian chamber music festivals (Classiche Forme, Villa Pennisi in Musica, Classica al tramonto) and won prestigious international competitions (Clara Wieck, Music and Stars Awards). In 2024, they received significant recognition by winning a place on the Master's program at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, where they continued their studies with Ivan Rabaglia of the Trio di Parma. In January 2025, the ensemble consolidated its presence on the Italian music scene by performing in the Sala Petrassi of the Parco della Musica as part of the prestigious MUSA concert series.
The Romantic Legacy, a program featuring Brahms's celebrated Trio op. 8 alongside Dvorak's Trio op. 65, highlights an ideal dialogue between the two composers and friends, in which Dvorak's voice competes with Brahms's, finding an original balance between stylistic heritage and inspiration.
