The Church of San Giovanni Battista opens its doors to the Volunteers for Art!

The Art Volunteers will welcome you on April 25th and 26th and May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with FREE ENTRY.

The Church of San Giovanni Battista, after the Cathedral of San Lorenzo and the now-defunct Santa Maria del Ponte, is the oldest church in Alba. Dating back to the early Middle Ages, the building has undergone transformations over the centuries through reconstruction and restoration, and today it is considered the city's sacred art gallery. The parish, the San Giovanni Cultural Association and Tourism in Langa, in collaboration with the Association of Volunteers for Art and the Alba Diocesan Museum, invite you to discover and appreciate its rich historical and artistic heritage during the Vinum weekends. The church will be staffed by volunteers who will welcome tourists and provide useful information for your visit, supported by descriptive panels and an audio guide system with QR codes. The Volunteers for Art will welcome you on April 25-26 and May 1-2-3 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with FREE ADMISSION. Try the "Visioni D'Arte" experience and discover the artworks of the Church of San Giovanni Battista in Alba with an immersive experience using 3D viewers at the adjacent Spazio San Giovanni (entrance from the cloister). Art like you've never seen it before! The experience will be available on Sundays, April 26th and May 3rd at 4:00 PM. Reservations are strongly recommended (spaces available for 15 people). For groups and guided tours at other times, the experience is available upon request and reservation. The cost is €2 per person to rent the viewer, after which you can view the artworks in person in the church with the Art Volunteers.
