From the Baroque to the present day
8.45pm
Third appointment of the Around the Guitar series.
The duo "Jan and Gisle" has given numerous concerts in recent years. Their program includes works for flute and guitar by Jacques Ibert, Claude Debussy, and Astor Piazzolla. They also include original compositions by Handel and J.S. Bach, as well as Renaissance and medieval music. The ensemble performs several of the major pieces written for them, such as Astor Piazzolla's "Histoire du Tango," Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's substantial "Sonatina Opus 205," and Ravi Shankar's "L'Aube Enchantée." Gabriel Fauré and C.Ph.E. Bach are important composers in their repertoire, as are John Dowland and Maurice Ravel. Gisle has also composed several solo pieces for flute, as well as "Four Pieces for Flute and Guitar," which they perform frequently. They also perform solo music for both guitar and flute.
The evening will open with Marlon Adriano, a former student of the Lodovico Rocca Civic Music Institute of Alba.
