Carlo Donat Cattin – the courage of politics

Thirty-five years after his death (March 17, 1991), the Christian Democrat statesman and political leader, CISL trade unionist, member of parliament and then senator, several times minister (in 1970, at the Ministry of Labor, he signed the Workers' Statute), national deputy secretary of the DC and leader of the DC's New Forces faction, an exponent of the party's social left, will be remembered on Monday, September 21, at 6:00 pm.
The choice of the city of Cuneo was no coincidence because, together with Bra and Savigliano, it constituted the last electoral college that brought Carlo Donat-Cattin as a senator to the benches of Palazzo Madama in 1987, until his death.

The meeting, organized by the Carlo Donat-Cattin Foundation of Turin, hosted by the Banca di Alba, and under the patronage of the Municipality of Alba, is moderated by Antonio Di Rosa, editor of La Stampa. Participants include journalist Giorgio Aimetti, CISL general secretary Daniela Fumarola (with a video contribution), Prelios president Fabrizio Palenzona, and former DC senator and member of the New Forces party Tomaso Zanoletti. The discussion will begin with greetings from Banca d'Alba president Tino Cornaglia , vice president of the Carlo Donat-Cattin Foundation Teresio Delfino , and Alba mayor Alberto Gatto . Barbara Donat-Cattin , granddaughter of the Christian Democrat leader and a member of the foundation of the same name, will close the proceedings . During the proceedings, a short summary of the Rai documentary “Carlo Donat-Cattin, the courage of politics” will be screened. The film was conceived and directed in 2019, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth, by Carlo's son, journalist and Rai executive Claudio Donat-Cattin.
