European Night of Museums
From 6.00 pm
On Saturday, May 23, 2026, the city of Alba, with the support of Banca d'Alba, will celebrate European Museum Night with a packed program of special openings, exceptional exhibitions, family activities, and major musical events, all completely free of charge.
The grand concert: over 200 musicians perform "Carmina Burana" in the Cortile della Maddalena
The musical heart of the evening will beat in the Cortile della Maddalena (Via Vittorio Emanuele II, 19), where, at 9:00 PM, the powerful strains of "Carmina Burana" will resound. This highly anticipated masterful performance is part of the prestigious Alba Music Festival and will feature an impressive ensemble of over 200 musicians, including orchestra and choir members. This extraordinary ensemble will provide a free, open-air concert, offering residents and tourists alike a high-quality artistic experience with a powerful sonic impact in Alba's historic center
Journey through time at Palazzo Banca d'Alba with the exhibition "How It Was / How It Is"
Palazzo Banca d'Alba, exceptionally open to the public from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, will also be among the stars of the cultural night. The building will host the exhibition project "Com'era / Com'è: dal 1895 a oggi" (The Way It Was / The Way It Is: From 1895 to Today), promoted by Fondazione Banca d'Alba to chronicle the evolution of society, languages, and customs through a direct comparison between past and present.
"Museums in Connection": A Focus on MUDET and the "Federico Eusebio" Museum
The museum program kicks off at 6:30 pm with the "Percorsi incrociati" initiative, a partnership between the MUDET (Truffle Museum) and the Federico Eusebio Civic Archaeological and Natural Sciences Museum. The starting point is the Cortile della Maddalena. Participants will split into two groups for a mirrored visit: the first group will begin the immersive tour at the MUDET—discovering the biology and design of the truffle, as well as photography exhibitions by Steve McCurry and Bruno Murialdo—and then move on to the Eusebio Museum. The second group will follow the reverse route, starting with the local archaeological, paleontological, and natural history collections. Visitors can choose to complete the entire tour or just a portion. Participation is free; reservations are recommended at info@tuber.it.
Evening opening and children's workshops at MUDI
The program continues from 8:30 pm to 11:00 pm at the MUDI (Alba Diocesan Museum), which is offering special opening hours to allow visitors to explore the collections and underground archaeological finds. At 9:00 pm, the MUDI will dedicate a space to younger visitors (ages 3-8) with the reading aloud of "Stories at the Museum: The Adventures of Nero the Cat." This event is part of the "Che Storia" network, promoted by the Alba Civic Library and supported by the Piedmont Region and the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, which promotes the benefits of culture on mental and physical well-being. Admission is free; reservations are required for the reading on the Artsupp platform. Info: 345.7642123 mudialba14@gmail.com.
