Fenoglio Marathon

The Fenogliana Marathon is an event promoted and supported by the Municipality of Alba. It is organized by the Beppe Fenoglio ETS Study Center in collaboration with the Portami Via Festival and the municipalities and associations that, at each stage, embrace the reading journey so eagerly awaited by enthusiasts.September 8, 1943, marked the beginning of the War of Liberation against Nazism in Italy, and this year it also offers an opportunity to reunite with the Consorzio Suonatori Indipendenti, thirty years after the concert in honor and memory of Beppe Fenoglio, which produced a legendary album: La terra, la guerra, una questione privata.

Taking up the title of the 1996 live album, the Fenogliana Marathon will be an alternation of tales of land and war, songs chosen for their "sonic" ability and setting.

This authentic marathon through the hills will feature many guests from the worlds of music, writing, and film: Davide Ferrario, Piero Negri Scaglione, and Nicola Testa in Alba, Maurizio Carucci in Gorzegno, Mauro Carrero in Canelli, and other friends who will freely participate as readers and listeners of Fenoglio's stories and novels.

The Alba stage comes after those of Canelli and Gorzegno.

On Sunday 6 September at 5pm we return to the Tanaro Valley where it all began, to Alba, the city of the Partisan Johnny, free for 23 days during the Nazi-fascist occupation.

It was in Alba, in the Church of San Domenico, that the legendary CSI concert in honor and memory of Beppe Fenoglio was held in March 1996, an event that remains etched in the city's collective imagination to this day. Recorded live, that concert became the album La terra, la guerra, una questione privata, dedicated to the memory and work of the writer and partisan.

This year, the Giuseppe Govone Classical High School, attended by Fenoglio himself, will host the shared reading of his great posthumous work.

The call for readers in the marathon was very popular, but to check if there are still places available on the various dates, just write an email to info@centrostudibeppefenoglio.it.
