The City of Alba is participating in the Giro d'Italia per la Pace, the initiative promoted by the National Coordination of Local Authorities for Peace and Human Rights which travels across Italy, bringing to local communities a reflection on the themes of peace, dialogue and coexistence between peoples.
On Friday, June 5, Alba hosts the 71st stage of the national journey, involving schools, associations, local groups, and citizens in a day of meetings, testimonies, and moments dedicated to promoting the culture of peace.
The day is the result of a long participatory process that, over the past few months, has involved all the city's high schools and local associations, with the aim of creating opportunities for discussion and awareness-raising, particularly among younger generations.
A journey that has united diverse voices, and it doesn't stop here: at its next meeting, the Alba City Council will decide whether to join the national network of Cities for Peace, an initiative that has received unanimous support from both the majority and minority council members.
The program of the day
Morning – with the city's high schools
The morning will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with processions from the city's schools through the city, bringing the voices of the younger generations to everyday life. At 10:30 a.m., in Zone H, the central event will be dedicated to the presentation of the "gifts of peace," projects developed by students over the previous weeks through in-depth activities and reflections on the theme of peace.
Afternoon – with everyone
At 5:00 PM, again in Zone H, the schools' work will be shared with the public. At 5:30 PM, the procession will begin toward Piazza Duomo, stopping at the Giardini della Regina on Via Roma. From 6:15 PM, Piazza Duomo will come alive with readings, testimonies, music, and moments of collective participation open to the city.
