Starry Biodiversity
The “Biodiversità Stellata/Biodiversité Étoilée” project aims to carry out awareness-raising activities related to biodiversity by analyzing, first of all, food biodiversity.
The City of Alba participated in the “Biodiversità Stellata / Biodiversité Étoilée” , as part of the Interreg VA France–Italy ALCOTRA 2014–2020 cross-border cooperation programme . The project, carried out together with the partners Commune du Bourget-du-Lac , Ville de La Motte-Servolex , Municipality of Cogne and GAL Langhe Roero Leader , promoted awareness-raising activities on biodiversity and initiatives dedicated to the protection of natural heritage.
The partnership involves a total area of 1,357.21 km² , including 84 municipalities and a total population of 131,228 inhabitants : a large and diversified territory, united by the objective of enhancing biodiversity as an environmental, cultural and social resource .
Consistent with Objective 3.1 of the ALCOTRA programme ( natural and cultural heritage ), the project aimed to increase knowledge of the value of biodiversity for people and the territory.
From the earth to the plate
The project partners, led by the City of Alba, were tourist destinations with strong naturalistic value. They shared the goal of raising awareness of the value of biodiversity for the region and for people's well-being, promoting a culture of environmental protection. The project began with food biodiversity, promoting local products and supply chains as a storytelling tool.

-
Raise awareness among residents and visitors about the value of food biodiversity , highlighting the link between the environment, food culture, and well-being , and encouraging more careful and sustainable choices.
