European Sustainable Mobility Week

From 16 to 22 September the Municipality of Alba will participate in the European Mobility Week with a programme of events dedicated to cycling, public transport and new ways of moving and working.

The program is extensive, with activities organized by local associations and organizations, with the support of FIAB Alba and the Municipality of Alba.

It all kicks off on Saturday, September 19th, from 3 pm at the Spazio DÖM, with "Boogia! Did you want a bike?", organized in collaboration with Ciclofficina La Pop and FIAB Alba. A day to experience and talk about cycling, starting in the afternoon, with a social ride, bike repair and recovery activities, an informational space on road safety, and a bike auction to support La Pop's activities. After a shared snack, stories of cycling trips are shared, and a screening of the film Anywhere Anytime by Milad Tangshir is included.

Sunday, September 20th, at 3 pm, “Alba in bici”: a group ride open to everyone, starting from Piazza Medford, as part of Sport in Piazza.

On Tuesday, September 22nd, at 6:30 pm in the Sala Riolfo, an event entitled "Work Changes Path", in collaboration with Libreria Milton, FIAB Alba, and FIAB Alessandria. Dario Salvetti, of the former GKN factory collective and author of the book "This Work Is Not Life," will be in conversation with Gianluca Pagella, president of FIAB Alessandria and a cargo bike worker. Two different experiences to discuss work, rights, and ecological conversion.

The Week will also feature "A scuola di bus" (Bus School), supported by Bus Company and aimed at city schools. Primary and middle school students, accompanied by their teachers, will be able to try out local public transport for free, learning how to use it for commuting and during their free time.

Among the initiatives connected to the event is the bicycle repair workshop promoted by Tavolo Carcere with Ciclofficina La Pop, scheduled to take place inside the prison between September and October. On September 26th, La Pop will also be in Piazza Ferrero for a demonstration at the event " Let's take back... the square!"

Finally, on Wednesday, September 16th and Thursday, September 17th, Alba will host the third meeting of the European partners of TenConnecT – Interreg Europe, the project that connects territories from different countries to leverage the opportunities of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), reduce its negative impacts, and improve regional mobility policies. Among the activities planned for the meeting, the European partners will also visit the Albattiva project construction site, which involves the school communities of the Corso Europa-Corso Banska Bystrica hub through a series of workshops and participatory planning.
