50 years since the reopening of the Federico Eusebio Civic Museum of Archaeology and Natural Sciences

November 7, 2026 November 13, 2026

Alba is celebrating an important anniversary for its cultural and scientific heritage: November 2026 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the reopening to the public of the Federico Eusebio Civic Museum of Archaeology and Natural Sciences. It moved to its current location within the Maddalena Complex in 1976 and was enriched, on that occasion, with new sections dedicated to the natural history of the area.

Founded in 1897 by Federico Eusebio as a historical-archaeological collection, the Museum underwent a significant transformation with its 1976 renovation. The archaeological collections, enriched by finds from excavations that contributed to a deeper understanding of prehistory and the Roman city, were joined by natural history sections, offering the public an increasingly broad perspective on the historical and environmental evolution of the area.

To celebrate this special anniversary, the Municipal Administration, together with the Museum and in collaboration with the Friends of the "F. Eusebio" Museum Association, the "Beppe Fenoglio" Center for Literature, History, Art and Culture (ETS), the Italian Alpine Club – Alba Section, the Alba Photography Group, and numerous other local organizations and organizations, is promoting a week of events dedicated to knowledge, dissemination, and memory.
