Italian Academy Bocuse d'Or
From 2017 to 2019, Alba was home to the Bocuse d'Or Italia Academy, an organization supported by various institutions that selected and trained Team Italy, made up of chefs, coaches, and commis chefs. In January 2019, the team represented Italy at the Bocuse d'Or World Finals , held every two years in Lyon and one of the most prestigious culinary competitions in the world. Alba has thus become a hub for outstanding Italian chefs.
Throughout the period, Team Italy's presentation and awareness-raising activities took place throughout the region, involving local, Italian, and international Michelin-starred chefs. The team also participated in presentations for Alba City of Gastronomy , both in Italy and abroad, and in 2018, in the preparation of creative aperitifs for the Alba Truffle Show , during the Cooking Shows of the Alba International White Truffle Fair, as well as other related events.
From hosting the Italian pre-selections to hosting the Italian final, the city maintained its role even at the end of Bocuse 2019, transforming itself, thanks to APRO Formazione, into a center of excellence for the chefs of tomorrow, with the dream of establishing permanent advanced courses in haute cuisine.
The project's goal is to invest long-term in Italian cultural awareness and gastronomic creativity, strengthening local creativity, forging new collaborations, and developing training internships for Italian vocational schools.
