World Breastfeeding Week

From Thursday 1st to Wednesday 7th October, World Breastfeeding Week, which aims to support, promote and raise public awareness regarding breastfeeding.

The Giovanni Ferrero Civic Library is offering three events in collaboration with the ASL CN2 and the Alba Langhe and Roero Social Welfare Consortium:

Saturday, October 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the city market in Piazza Pertinace: BREASTFEEDING INFORMATION POINT AND READINGS ALOUD - Stand staffed by ASL CN2 workers and the Family Center of the Social Welfare Consortium to provide information on early childhood services and breastfeeding.
Read alouds accompanied by volunteer readers from Nati per Leggere Piemonte.

Wednesday, October 7, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM, in the Library (Riolfo Room): A NETWORK THAT SUPPORTS: BREASTFEEDING FROM DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES – Round table discussion for pregnant women and new parents, organized by ASL CN2. Speakers include: pediatric nurse Chiara Negri on the emotional implications of breastfeeding; midwife Cinzia Demaria on problems that can arise in everyday life (sore nipples, breast engorgement, mastitis, etc.); dietitian Elisa Allocco on myths related to nutrition, breastfeeding, and complementary feeding; and psychologist Nadia Boido on new balances within couples. Following the meeting, there will be time for discussion with the parents in attendance.
Attendance is free, and reservations are not required.

Wednesday, October 7th, at 5:00 PM, at the Library, RECIPES FOR GROWING TOGETHER, an animated reading with a workshop led by Chiara Mozzone. Nursery rhymes and short rhymes explore food in all its forms, both for the body and for the soul. An overview of some of the best books for teaching even the youngest children about nutrition and for playing with them.
