Luigi Chiabotto, a nervous food merchant, is supposed to rest on his doctor's advice. But jealousy gives him no respite: a love letter he accidentally finds in his wife Erminia's book of poems shatters his already fragile serenity.
To complicate matters, news arrives of a setback with the Health Department over a batch of spoiled anchovies. Between suspicions, setbacks, and obsessive thoughts, Luigi sinks into a vortex of anxiety and misunderstandings that make peace impossible. Because when the mind is ruled by doubt, even the most mundane reality turns into a comedy.
