From Saturday 7 November to Saturday 5 December, the “Giovanni Ferrero” Civic Library hosts the exhibition “Cyanotypes: the magic of blue” by Mariella Stella.

On display is a series of photographs created using the cyanotype technique, an ancient printing process that produces monochrome images of a characteristic Prussian blue color.

Cyanotype was developed in 1842 by the English scientist and astronomer John Herschel. The method is based on the use of a mixture of two iron salts that becomes photosensitive and reacts to the UV rays present in sunlight.

Through this process the artist takes a journey through summer fields, autumn woods, grape harvests and landscapes that celebrate nature, water and the sun.

A retired teacher, first at the "G. Vida" middle school and then at the "L. da Vinci" high school in Alba, Mariella Stella has attended several courses in creativity development. With this exhibition, she experiments with a technique she discovered during a stay in France and subsequently explored and experimented with.
