Sounds from the Hills – Ensemble Café De Maurizi
Sounds from the Hills—the traveling concert series of the Langhe Monferrato Roero Cultural Park, under the artistic direction of Giuseppe Nova and the Alba Music Festival—stops off in Alba, at the Teatro Sociale Arena. For the occasion, a captivating French ensemble will perform. Their name, Café De Maurizi, pays homage to Oreste De Maurizi, a 20th-century virtuoso and composer who explored and promoted Gypsy and Balkan musical traditions. Chamber music, elegant gypsy atmospheres, French melodies, waltzes, polkas, and csárdás will enliven the dialogue between soprano, violin, cello, double bass, and piano: a brilliant French quintet composed of concert performers and conservatory professors.
