The project "How It Was / How It Is: From 1895 to Today" was born with the aim of chronicling the evolution of society, languages, and customs through an ongoing dialogue between past and present. Promoted by the Banca d'Alba Foundation, the journey begins with the historical roots of the institution and opens to a broader reflection on the changes that have affected various fields—from medicine to culture, from sports to fashion—comparing 1895 with the contemporary world. The aim is to offer tools for understanding the present and stimulate informed reflection on the future. The project is structured around a series of public meetings and an immersive exhibition hosted at Palazzo Banca d'Alba, conceived as a journey through time among objects, ideas, and innovations.
