From April 12 to January 6, 2026, the Federico Eusebio Civic Museum in Alba hosts the exhibition "Era Gallizio. Pinot Gallizio and the Discovery of Prehistory: Finds, Works, and Collectibles."

In connection with the events that have been dedicated in various locations to the sixtieth anniversary of the death of Pinot Gallizio (Alba, 1902–1964), the City of Alba has created the exhibition in collaboration with the Gallizio Archive of Turin and the Beppe Fenoglio Study Centre and with the support of the GAM – Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea of Turin , as part of the Esterno GAM project.

The exhibition itinerary

This is a unique exhibition focusing on the artist's interest in archaeology and prehistory. Curated by Maria Teresa Roberto , curator of the General Catalogue of Gallizio's Works, the exhibition is held in the Federico Eusebio Civic Museum, which houses the many artifacts he donated, the result of research conducted between 1943 and 1949 at sites explored half a century earlier by the mineralogist and paleontologist Giovanni Battista Traverso (Genoa, 1843 – Alba, 1914).

What I find inside the exhibition

Period texts, photographs, and unpublished manuscripts, including a log in which Gallizio recorded the results of his investigations, tell the story of those finds, which rekindled interest in the Neolithic settlement of Alba and paved the way for subsequent excavation cycles.

A series of graphic interventions, conceived as an integral part of the exhibition design, accompany the visitor through the exhibition, highlighting both the presence of the artifacts donated by Gallizio in the permanent collection and the placement of his works in the galleries. The exhibition's visual identity is thus integrated into the museum itself, forging a dialogue between the historical heritage and contemporary works.

The exhibition was made possible thanks to the valuable contribution of the CRC Foundation , Banca d'Alba , Mollo Noleggi and thanks to the support of the Ferrero Foundation , which for over twenty-five years has promoted and collaborated on wide-ranging cultural initiatives to promote Pinot Gallizio.

Entrance to the exhibition is included in the ticket to the F. Eusebio Civic Museum .
