The exhibition OLIVIA ARTHUR. HUMAN GEOGRAPHY, curated by Denis Curti and featuring the work of London-based documentary photographer and visual artist Olivia Arthur, continues at the Ferrero Foundation. Before the exhibition closes on April 30, the Foundation is offering a conversation on Thursday, April 23, at 6:30 pm, between Olivia Arthur and journalist and writer Mario Calabresi, focusing on the new languages ​​of contemporary reportage. During the closing event, which will be free to attend and moderated by Denis Curti, visitors will be able to reflect on the evolution of photographic reportage as a language, voice, and expression. In this regard, Olivia Arthur's photographs chart a "human geography" that, as curator Denis Curti writes, "resembles an emotional bridge capable of erasing geographical boundaries. Hers is a chronicle of love and resistance, as heartbreaking as it is sincere, adept at encapsulating the shared desire to exist in the absence of social constraints." The author captures gestures, glances, actions, and interactions that transcend the concept of confession: for her, photography means delving into the depths of intimacy to allow people to share their stories without fear of judgment. And it is from the sum of these testimonies that a vision emerges, aimed at solemnizing the uniqueness of existence, revealing an art so alive that it overlaps with reality. Art, and in this case photography as well, must continue to exercise a restless function. Those who view are not merely witnesses, but assume the responsibility of describing the world and therefore take a stand. With Olivia Arthur, photography transforms into a conscious and universal language. By smoothing out the ambiguities typical of the language of images, Human Geography becomes an opportunity for dialogue and discussion with the aim of creating close relationships.
