Sergio Ragalzi's exhibition addresses the theme of care by reversing perspective. Rather than comforting, his work unsettles, unsettles, and questions. Black dominates, leaving no room for the vitality of color. In the artist's work, everything revolves around humanity and its fears, its dramas, its tragedies, and the dangers inherent in its very existence, both as individuals and as a species. The first step toward "caring" for someone or something is choosing to look in that direction, to direct our attention there. And Ragalzi, with his works—exorcisms of hidden fears—asks us precisely this: not to turn away, to look at something that isn't, but could be, however difficult it may be. In short, to take care of ourselves before it's too late.
Sergio Ragalzi (1971-2024)
was born in 1951 in Turin, the city where he trained and made his debut. In 1984, he exhibited at Fabio Sargentini's Galleria L'attico, accompanied by a text by the poet Emilio Villa. From there, his career developed between Rome and Turin, receiving national and international recognition.
