Donkey Palio

On the first Sunday of October, the Palio degli Asini takes place in Piazza Senatore Osvaldo Cagnasso, the race that sees the city's nine districts compete for the banner.

The Palio day will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Piazza Risorgimento with the assignment of donkeys to the nine city districts. In the afternoon, at 2:30 p.m., over a thousand costumed figures will enliven the traditional free medieval parade through the historic center, before entering the Palio arena. The gates to the arena in Piazza Cagnasso will open at 2:00 p.m., while the event is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
