On the occasion of the Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage Days, promoted
by the National Office for Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage and Buildings of Worship of the
Italian Episcopal Conference, from May 8th to 17th, the Diocesan Museum of Alba is organizing a special
ArcheoMUDI tour on Sunday, May 10th.
This guided tour, led by an archaeologist, will explore the archaeological site beneath the Cathedral of San
Lorenzo in Alba (Cuneo), revealing stories, secrets, and curiosities of the past!
During the tour, you will wander among ancient structures, discovering how people once lived
, the tools they used, and the traces they left behind.
Reflecting on the theme of the Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage Days, "Resonances of Holiness," the archaeologist will conclude
the tour with a focus on the Cathedral's double bell tower, seen as a public archaeology device
. From this perspective, archaeology is not viewed exclusively as a discipline
dedicated to the study of material culture and building stratification, but as a
participatory social practice. You will discover the history of a significant monument for the city of Alba, a testimony
to the faith of San Teobaldo.
