Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3, 2022

Livertin Experience: two free days dedicated to the biodiversity of the Alba area, with walks in search of wild herbs accompanied by a nature guide.

The rural tradition of the Langhe invites us, during spring walks in the open air, to gather wild herbs, flowers, and fruits. Among the herbs that grow wild along our paths, livertin (wild hops) has become a symbol of the nature that provides us with sustenance and of local culinary traditions.

This is how the Livertin Experience , a different way to rediscover the landscape of our land, in freedom, safety and relaxation.

Livertin Experience is promoted as part of the “Biodiversità Stellata” project funded by the Interreg VA France-Italy ALCOTRA 2014-2020 programme as part of the partnership activities involving the Municipality of Alba as lead partner, the GAL Langhe Roero Leader, the Municipality of Cogne, the Ville de La Motte-Servolex and the Commune du Bourget-du-Lac.

The Stellar Biodiversity project aims to raise awareness of the value of biodiversity for the region and its people as part of the mission of enhancing natural and cultural heritage.

The initiative, organized by the Municipality of Alba and the GAL Langhe Roero Leader , aims to give a renewed start to the tourist season by using the extensive network of city trails to enhance the biodiversity of our rural areas.

THE HERBS AND FLOWERS OF SANTA ROSALIA

Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3, 2022, departure at 9:45 a.m. (meeting at 9:30 a.m.); meet in Corso Barolo (in front of Apro, on the Via Castelgherlone side), Alba.

Accompanied by a nature guide, you will hike the trail named after the hilltop hamlet of Santa Rosalia. This locality harks back to the fiefdom associated with the Santa Rosalia farmhouse, a fiefdom thanks to which Alba was able to claim the title of "Countess of Santa Rosalia," adding the county crown to its coat of arms. The trail will immerse you in nature, passing through numerous vineyards and meadows, all the way to the Bernardina, a site of historical and architectural interest, today characterized by contrasts between traditional architecture, represented by the manor house, and modern architecture such as the "Acino Grande.".

The route lasts approximately three and a half hours and is of medium difficulty.

Appropriate clothing and footwear are required.

Reservations required. Maximum 30 participants.

Free entry. Not suitable for children.

FOLLOWING FULVIA THROUGH FLOWERS AND FORAGING

Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 April 2022, departure at 2.30 pm (meeting at 2.15 pm), meeting in Piazza Monsignor Grassi, Alba.

Accompanied by a nature guide, we'll ascend the first hills between Alba and the hamlet of San Rocco Seno d'Elvio, where stories of love, war, and death intertwine, centered around the partisan Milton's passion for Fulvia, the protagonists of Fenoglio's novel "A Private Matter." Along paths and country roads, among vineyards and farmhouses, the guide will describe the landscape and the things that grow wild along the route, from flowers to herbs, and even fruit trees, paying particular attention to what is edible and therefore likely to be found in our dishes. Along the way, the echoes of the partisans and the words of Fenoglio will set the pace of the walk.

The route lasts approximately four hours and is of medium difficulty.

Reservations required. Maximum 30 participants.
