Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian

Opening hours

Monday to Sunday: 8.00am – 7.00pm
excluding religious service hours

The holy martyrs of the sacred building, Cosmas and Damian, are two brothers who lived between the 3rd and 4th centuries AD. Built on the remains of Roman walls and pavements, the church is of very ancient origin; in fact, it is mentioned in documents from the 12th century. It was completely rebuilt in the 18th century from the foundations up, and the bell tower was added in the same years. The bell tower, built later, already displays neoclassical features: a cornice projecting towards the top, pilasters, oculi, and narrow openings in the walls.

The baroque church of Saints Cosma and Damiano is located within the road system of Via Vittorio Emanuele (the “Maestra Street”).
