"Living in Piedmontese" A language described in over 400 words. With Paolo Tibaldi, Oscar Barile, and Giusto Truglia
Paolo Tibaldi and Oscar Barile will be the protagonists of the event on the Piedmontese language, promoted by the Giulio Parusso Cultural Association in collaboration with Gazzetta d'Alba and its Editor-in-Chief Giusto Truglia, scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 6:00 PM in the Sala Riolfo in Alba. The initiative is inspired by the book by actor and director Paolo Tibaldi, "Living Piedmontese: A Language Told in Over 400 Words," published by San Paolo, which is a compilation of the successful weekly column published in Gazzetta d'Alba. Oscar and Paolo will engage the audience with jokes and anecdotes of authentic, everyday Piedmontese. We will hear them recite excerpts from Carvè and Luna Park, two comedies by Oscar Barile, and we will appreciate their profound knowledge of our Piedmontese linguistic heritage and traditions. The 430 words that author Paolo Tibaldi has collected, researched, and published over nine years in the Gazzetta column will lead us through the evolution of our linguistic identity. Oscar Barile wrote the book's preface. He is the founder of the theater company "Nostro Teatro di Sinio," which has produced numerous comedies that narrate and celebrate a civilization expressed in the Piedmontese language. Thanks to Banca di Asti, the volume is being given away to all Gazzetta d'Alba subscribers, who can pick it up at the weekly's headquarters. It is also available for purchase at the finest local bookstores. During the presentation, the San Paolo bookstore will be selling copies, with the option of having them autographed by the author.
