Based on the famous film by Dino Risi, the show pays homage to a masterpiece of Italian cinema.

The protagonist is Alberto Nardi, a megalomaniac and incompetent Roman industrialist married to a wealthy and unscrupulous businesswoman. While he, besieged by creditors, begs for signatures and money for his failing ventures, she, aware of his ineptitude, publicly humiliates him by calling him a "little idiot" and, behind the scenes, lends him money on usurious terms, further aggravating his ruin. Desperate and obsessed with his inheritance, Alberto devises plans as imaginative as they are improbable to rid himself of his wife. The comedy thus reveals, through irony and bitterness, the grotesque side of human ambition.
