International Jazz Day returns for the fourteenth year on Thursday, April 30th !

The concert program in Alba kicks off at 3:30 pm in Piazza Ferrero with Florentine artist Francesco Rainero . After experiences that led him to collaborate with Bungaro, play with Niccolò Fabi and Max Gazzè, and open for Ligabue at the Parco di Monza, in 2017 he released his first album, "Mancino," which features a duet with Grazia Di Michele. In 2018, he opened for two concerts for Francesco De Gregori and won the Lunezia Prize. He is the youngest winner of Musicultura 2018 and is a finalist for the 2018 Bertoli Prize. In the summer of 2019, his first tour began, touring Italy with his musicians. In 2019, "Generazione," his second recording project, was released, and in 2021, "La libera bellezza," an album of acoustic covers with Vincenzo Genovese on piano. Since 2017, she has collaborated with the Notte Nazionale del Liceo Classico, writing and performing the event's anthem. In Alba, she performed a solo performance of songs from her latest album, "Ti cerco nel mondo," released in November 2025 on Ipogeo Records, along with other songs from her repertoire and some special covers, in a personal, acoustic version.

From 4.45pm, in Piazza Garibaldi and throughout the historic centre, Prismabanda , a street band from Cuneo (from Vernante) that can boast international performances: a prism of music, dance and energy, which touches on different musical genres and creates a musical with gags, choreography and juggling.

At 8:30 pm, in Piazza Duomo, Jelly Roll Plays Morton, a quintet tribute to Jelly Roll Morton, the great pioneer who called himself the "inventor of jazz." Helga Plankensteiner's project features an original lineup with three lower-register wind instruments: baritone sax, bass clarinet, and tuba. The repertoire is entirely dedicated to compositions by Jelly Roll Morton. The multi-stylistic arrangements reveal surprising aspects of this genius from the early days of jazz. The CD, released on the German label Jazzwerkstatt, was named one of the 15 best albums of 2022 by Musica Jazz's Top Jazz. On stage are Helga Plankensteiner on baritone sax and vocals, Achille Succi on bass clarinet, Glauco Benedetti on tuba, Michael Lösch on piano, Rhodes instrument, and toy piano, and Marco Soldà on drums.
