March 13th to April 30th, the Ferrero Foundation in Alba hosts the exhibition "Human Geography" by London-based documentary photographer Olivia Arthur, a project curated by critic and curator Denis Curti. The opening will be on Thursday, March 12th at 6:00 PM in the Ferrero Foundation spaces at Strada di Mezzo 44.

The exhibition presents a selection of black-and-white portraits, environments, and landscapes shot in diverse geographic and cultural contexts, often marked by social fragility or marginalization. The photographer's work spans diverse countries and cultures, from Saudi Arabia to the Palestinian territories, from Jordan to Egypt, from Ukraine to the Caucasus, and even the United Kingdom and other European regions.

"Olivia Arthur's 'human geography'," writes curator Denis Curti, "resembles an emotional bridge capable of erasing geographical boundaries. Hers is a chronicle of love and resistance, as heartbreaking as it is sincere, adept at synthesizing the shared desire to exist in the absence of social constraints. With her photographs, Arthur manages to create a welcoming space in which a transversal representation of the human race proliferates. Each image is an expressive choice that highlights the personality of the subjects who inhabit them. Those who find themselves before the lens accept the laying bare of dreams and desires, anguish and fears: Arthur structures a true sublimation of otherness, in an attempt to erase every moral stratification and, at the same time, highlight the divine in the human. The author frames gestures, glances, actions and interactions capable of going beyond the concept of confession: for her, photography means delving into the depths of intimacy to allow people to tell their stories without fear of being judged. And it is from the sum of these testimonies that a vision emerges." aimed at solemnizing the uniqueness of existence, showcasing an art so alive that it overlaps with reality. Art, and in this case photography as well, must continue to fulfill a restless function. The viewer is not merely a witness, but takes on the responsibility of narrating the world and therefore takes a stand. With Olivia Arthur, photography transforms into a conscious and universal language. By smoothing out the ambiguities typical of the language of images, Human Geography becomes an opportunity for dialogue and discussion with the aim of creating close relationships.
