Hands and threads to mend peace and the future
March 28, 2026
From 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Risorgimento Square
Free entry
On Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Piazza Risorgimento will be transformed into an open-air workshop of creative resistance. The initiative will involve citizens and associations committed to building a collective "peace carpet." The Alba event is taking place simultaneously with many other squares across Italy as part of the national project "10, 100, 1000 Squares – Women for Peace." The afternoon's goal is to use fabrics, threads, and creativity to create a choral work: a carpet made of cloth, flowers, and symbols, where each stitch represents a desire for justice and a word of peace, to oppose the logic of destruction and the normalization of war. The invitation is open to all. Participants are asked to bring basic equipment: needle, thread, and thimble. The event will be hosted by the Farandoulaires group, who will accompany the manual labor with music and folk dance. The Alba meeting is not an isolated event, but is part of the European Stop ReArm Europe mobilization. It also represents the first stage of a process that will culminate on June 20th in Rome, with a major National Women for Peace Demonstration. The event is promoted by: - Peace Office - Municipality of Alba - "Toni Lucci" Peace School in Bra - Women in Black Against War - Alba
