Food. Curiosities, oddities, and rituals surrounding food
On Thursday, April 9, at 9:00 p.m. Cibaria. Curiosities, Oddities, and Rites Around Food (Slow Food Editore) in its Auditorium Luigi Ferrando and illustrated by Gabriele Pino .
Not a cookbook, nor a travel diary, but a carefully curated and refined account of all those curious, strange, and wonderful things related to food and edibles in general. Page after page, we travel around the world through the world's cuisines, exploring distant cultures and locations both exotic and familiar. Luigi Ferrando has chosen forty foods, ranging from Japanese fugu sashimi to Stalin's crab; from Scottish haggis (a sheep's stomach stuffed with its own offal) to Rocky Mountain oyster caviar; from Himalayan honey to Afghan almonds; from alligator meat to balsamic vinegar; from Thai salangana nests to Japanese mochi. Forty foods that allow for the telling of curious and fascinating stories.
In conversation with the author and illustrator, journalist and “ The Cheese ” Maria Cristina Crucitti .
