45 meters above Alba + The Cathedral Treasure
Guided tour of the bell tower of the Cathedral of San Lorenzo and the Mudi Treasure Room
There are two visiting shifts: 3.00 pm and 5.00 pm
On Saturday, May 2nd, during the 48th edition of VINUM – International
Piedmont Wine Fair, a double guided tour will introduce you to the history of the Cathedral of San
Lorenzo and its artistic heritage. The guided tour of the Romanesque bell tower, reaching up to 45 meters
high, will reveal two bell towers from the 10th and 12th centuries. After admiring
the city of Alba from above, you will descend and continue with a visit to the Treasure Room, a little-
known space that houses numerous silver objects and vestments: reliquaries, furnishings, and liturgical vestments,
mostly made between the 17th and 20th centuries by master goldsmiths, mostly from Turin, and local and
French manufacturers, artistic testimonies of an important heritage of the Alba Diocese.
The afternoon will conclude, for all participants, with a snack in the flower garden of the
Cathedral rectory, where you can enjoy herbal teas and local products.
